Biography

Described as having a golden-tone and dreamy legato, Lyric Baritone Ted Federle is a dynamic artist who brings to life the drama of everything he sings.

 

Mr. Federle has performed with St. Petersburg Opera singing the role of Silvio in their production of I pagliacci, NC Opera in Tosca, Pensacola Opera as Moralès and Dancaïro with a cover of Escamillo in their production of Carmen as well as Guglielmo in Così fan tutte, Mobile Opera in The Mikado, Chautauqua Opera in Peter Grimes and Nashville Opera in Die Zauberflöte. Mr. Federle has also sung roles with Piedmont Opera, Opera Saratoga, Opera Colorado, Greensboro Opera, The Janiec Opera Company, Capital Opera-Raleigh, and the Seagle Music Colony.

 

At home with Musical Theater as well as Opera, Mr. Federle joined the workshop cast of Paris Through The Window, an original musical about the life of poet Alan Seeger from the creative team of Leo Hurley and Charles Osborne. Other performances include Papageno in Piedmont Opera's The Magic Flute and D.J. Sparr’s one-act-opera, Approaching Ali with NC Opera. Approaching Ali is based on Davis Millers autobiographical book, The Tao of Mohammad Ali. Mr. Federle played the role of author and co-librettist Davis Miller who grew up blocks away from where Mr. Federle currently resides in North Carolina.

In 2017 Mr. Federle joined the Voice Faculty at Duke University as an Instructor of Music. He is also an active member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS).

A native of Cincinnati, Mr. Federle primarily resides in Winston-Salem, NC where he finished his education at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts as part of the A.J. Fletcher Opera Institute. He also holds a Bachelor's of Music Degree from Bowling Greens State University in Ohio and a Masters of Music from UNCG.
